British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community offered its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
